MOTIF Weddings: Campbell Busfield & Matt Toner

Married Feb. 18, 2018

How We Met: Campbell and Matt met in the summer of 2014, the month that he moved to America from England. They were both at a bar in Houston cheering on England during the World Cup. Campbell was wearing an England jersey, causing Matt to notice her, and she liked his cute accent. It didn’t take them long to start dating.

The Proposal: Matt surprised Campbell during a trip to Seattle and had all her friends fly up to join them.

Campbell and Matt were married on Sunday, Feb. 18, in New Orleans, the bride’s favorite city. They planned their destination wedding from their home in New York City and say New Orleans was the perfect backdrop to have their loved ones from around the world join them to party and celebrate their love. Their 115 guests were treated to music by D-Play Band and a second line parade through the French Quarter.

Most Creative Idea: Cookies and pie from Milk Bar in New York in lieu of a traditional wedding cake and a vintage World Atlas from 1958 as a sign-in book.

Cost-Saving Tip: Campbell bought a $300 bridesmaids dress as her wedding dress.

Advice For Brides: Don’t stress about the guest list.

Biggest Splurge: The band!

Favorite Detail: Ten minutes alone before the ceremony. Their photographer suggested they write down their three favorite things about each other and read them aloud at the first look. This was a sweet moment resulting in beautiful candid pictures.

Most Memorable Moment: Second line parade through the French Quarter after saying “I do.” Guests grabbed custom wedding koozies with beer or wine and a six-part band led their friends and family through the streets.
