Becoming a Bride

Behind the Scenes at our first styled fashion shoot, MOTIF collaborated with the holy trinity of style: stylist, hair and makeup artist and a photographer. All we needed was the perfect location and cosmic timing: for all the elements to come together. Fashion is a lifestyle and our biggest expression of individuality. MOTIF’s approach to creating interestingly style shoots is to create and highlight the artful and playful side of bridal fashion—and life! “One sees clearly only with the heart. Anything essential is invisible to the eyes”, Antoine de Saint-Exupery says. MOTIF focuses on the visual aspect between fantasy and imagination, and implores the woman to see through her own eyes what she will look like as she takes the walk down the aisle.

Hellianna Verrett is an artist with an eclectic taste in beauty. Her passion for hair and makeup began as early as age 4. “I knew my heart belonged to making people feel beautiful,” she says.

Currently a portfolio educator for global company Coty Inc., she travels and also teaches as an independent contractor for Wella Professionals, while also freelancing as a makeup artist.

Her love of weddings came about 14 years ago, when she first started doing photo shoots, fashion week, and workshops. “What I enjoy most is collaborating with my brides on their special day and planning each event up to their wedding day,” she says.

Street photography is also a hobby, inspiring her to create concepts on-set that are reflections of a changing world. “Each morning I wake up blessed, because I’m a local Lafayette stylist,” she adds.
